Day 5 - 03/08/14 - Amsterdam!

Morning! Finally fell asleep for a few hours last night! So decided not to get ready before meeting Archie in the morning, but just go down for breakfast in my pajamas :) ... BIG mistake! V. embarrassing, I was the ONLY one not dressed! Bumped into the girls from my room whilst having my cappuccino and speedily packed up to get on the train for Rotterdam, and connect to Amsterdam. Only a 5 minute walk to our 'sporty' hostel right in the middle of the red light district, on the top floor with 18 beds!!

We were so starving by the time we got there, so popped into a corner fast food place where they do the vending-machine style service. This was the most relaxing place so far as we both actually knew where we were going! (we visited Amsterdam last October).

Sitting by the canal to let our food go down and take in the beautiful scenery, we aimed to relocate The Bulldog (apparently the first coffee shop opened here). I ordered a tea and Arch a coffee and we shared one of their ready-made 'specialties' that can only be described as harsh on the throat and weirdly made me feel bloated rather than 'munchie'?! Following a giggly chillax by the canal we went back to hostel for a v. relaxing lie down and tried to do a bit of FaceTiming downstairs on the free wifi. To make the most of our short stay here we wanted to go back to the first coffee shop we ever went to = Betty Twos, and enjoyed a much nicer sugar rush and the coolest peach tea :)
